WEBINAR: Developing Strategies for Workforce Development
A December 4 Aspen Institute webinar will address ways to improve job quality across multiple workforces.
Entitled “Creating a Conversation on Job Quality: Research, Advocacy and Communication Strategies for Workforce Development Leaders,” the webinar will feature presentations from PHI Strategic Advisor Steven Dawson and Gregorio Casar of the Workers Defense Project.
Dawson will discuss PHI’s “raise the floor and build ladders” strategy, which is based on the premise that moving low-wage workers into “better” jobs will never provide sufficient opportunities for the vast number of workers in poor quality jobs.
Rather, Dawson argues that workforce development leaders must put more effort into improving the quality of entry-level jobs in fast-growing sectors such as direct-care.
