The Aspen Institute is an educational and policy studies organization that describes itself as “a nonpartisan forum for values-based leadership and the exchange of ideas.” The Aspen Institute’s policy programs, leadership initiatives, and events help foster solutions to pressing public policy issues.
Since 2001, PHI has worked with the Aspen Institute’s Workforce Strategies Initiative to illuminate the many issues facing the direct care workforce. Our collaboration has included reports and panel discussions on many issues: long-term care, sectoral employment among low-income workers, home care worker cooperatives, and the minimum wage, among others. Most recently, we worked together to produce a white paper on workforce development strategies for supporting both mobility and stability among low-income workers.
