Alzheimer’s Resource Center
The Alzheimer’s Resource Center (ARC) is a pioneer in social change, transforming the way people living with dementia are viewed, engaged, and supported. As a mission-driven nonprofit organization, it has created innovative practices that support the well-being and resiliency of people living with dementia, their families, and professionals that work with them. The Alzheimer’s Resource Center provides residential living at their campus in Southington and resources and supports throughout Connecticut. They are also sought out nationally and internationally for their professional consulting.
Since 2015, PHI has been consulting with ARC to integrate the PHI Coaching Approach® into the organization’s approaches for supporting older adults and their families. PHI worked with ARC on a dialogue project that developed a framework for collaborative decision-making among staff. We also delivered an eight-day train-the-trainer program to a select group of employees, who then expanded this program to ARC’s direct care workers (known internally as “care partners”). Our overall work will help ARC’s residential redesign, as well as deepen the empowerment of care partners who, through the training, will be better equipped to ensure the well-being of those they support.
