PHI State Data Center Updated to Reflect New Information
PHI has updated its State Data Center using the most recent wage, health insurance, and employment data available on the direct-care workforce in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
The newly updated resource now features six revised charts for each state based on PHI’s analyses of the latest wage and employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for 2011 and U.S. Census Bureau health insurance and public-assistance data for 2010.
“Since its launch last year, the State Data Center has been one of PHI’s most highly regarded — and highly trafficked — online resources, which underscores the value of a centralized and reliable source of current state-based facts, statistics, and information on direct-care workers,” said PHI Director of Policy Research Dorie Seavey.
Launched in 2011 with support from the SCAN Foundation and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the PHI State Data Center is the first web-based tool to provide comprehensive profiles of the direct-care workforce for each state. Key workforce statistics are presented in easy-to-read, downloadable charts.
The Center also features information on state initiatives to improve the quality of direct-care jobs, providing “quality highlights” such as notable initiatives, demonstrations and technical assistance funded by CMS, new legislative and regulatory developments, model employer practices, and stand-out resources.
“We have more updates planned for the rest of 2012 and also some exciting new features and functionalities, so stay tuned!” Seavey said.
