PHI Recognizes Workers During National Home Care and Hospice Month
November 15, 2012
November is National Home Care and Hospice Month.
PHI would like to recognize all the home care workers who make it possible for elders and people with disabilities to live independently in their homes and communities.
PHI also salutes the direct-care hospice workers who allow people to die in comfort and with dignity.
Organizations across the country are commemorating this special month.
Although home care work represents one of the fastest-growing occupations in the U.S., home care workers are still not entitled to basic wage protections under federal law, such as a minimum wage and time-and-a-half overtime pay.
The PHI Campaign for Fair Pay is urging President Obama and the Labor Department to finish the job they started last December, when they proposed to correct this long-standing federal oversight.
