Caregiver Staffing in Nursing Homes and Their Influence on Quality of Care

This study looked at staffing of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and nursing assistants in 2839 nursing homes over four years (2003-2007). Findings from regression analyses indicated that there was a strong association between staffing characteristics and indicators of quality, like pressure sores, pain management, catheter use, and physical restraint. Associations were strongest for staffing for registered nurses and nursing assistants. To see the original source, click here.
