Health Care Workers Unprotected: Insufficient Inspections and Standards Leave Safety Risks Unaddressed

This report uses statistics from the U.S. Department of Labor to show that health care workers — including direct care workers — suffer on-the-job injuries and illnesses at higher rates than any other profession. It argues that the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration must make a greater effort to ensure that health care workers are protected in the workplace. OSHA should develop additional safety standards for health care facilities and conduct site inspections more regularly
