A Qualitative Description of Direct Care Workers of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Older Adults

This qualitative study explored how direct care workers perceive the LGBT individuals that they care for. Findings revealed that implicit bias, positive and negative beliefs of LGBT older adults, and prejudices can be at play in interactions that direct care workers have with the LGBT older adults that they care for. These findings point to a need for more specialized trainings for direct care workers on LGBT-specific care. To see the original source, click here.
