Five steps to implementing the new federal home care rule


Highlights five measures that New York State policymakers can take to ensure the smooth implementation of a federal rule change, scheduled to take effect October 13, 2015, that will extend minimum-wage and overtime protections to home care workers. For example, the fact sheet suggests that policymakers take steps to collect more accurate data on the workforce in order to properly budget for the rule change. It also recommends the creation of a home care ombudsman position to inform workers of their new wage rights.
