Home care workers, consumers, employers and advocates from across the country share their reactions to the US Supreme Court’s decision to deny a petition for writ of certiorari in the case of Home Care Association of America, et al. v. Weil, et al.
This industry lawsuit challenged the Department of Labor rule that granted home care workers the right to minimum wage and overtime protections. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit upheld the constitutionality of the DOL’s rulemaking authority last August 2015.
Speakers address the importance of minimum wage and overtime protections both for the nation's 2 million home care workers and for the needs of our rapidly aging population as well as people with disabilities who rely on services and supports to live independently at home.
