Transforming Care Environments

Massachusetts Culture Change Coalition

PHI Massachusetts is an actively engaged in efforts to improve workplace environments for direct-care workers, the state’s largest workforce, through its membership on the Massachusetts Culture Change Coalition and our training and organizational development work.

The Massachusetts Culture Change Coalition is a diverse group of stakeholders focused on promoting culture change to providers of eldercare and disability services. The culture change process often requires transformations in organizational practice, physical environments, relationships at all levels, and workforce models, which lead to better outcomes for consumers and direct care workers.

To date, the Coalition has hosted three rounds of regional forums and two statewide conferences, and led multiple discussion groups to educate consumers, workers and employers about the benefits of culture change. PHI Massachusetts serves as a Steering Committee member and contributes its expertise on the culture change process to help shape the conference, forums and materials produced by the Coalition.
