PHI sits on the steering committee of the Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Homes Campaign. Advancing Excellence is an ongoing, coalition-based campaign concerned with how we care for the elderly, chronically ill and disabled, as well as those recuperating or living in a nursing home environment.
This voluntary campaign:
- Monitors key indicators of nursing home care quality (pdf) – both clinical quality and organizational improvement goals
- Promotes excellence in caregiving
- Acknowledges the critical role nursing home staff have in providing care
- Recognizes the important role of consumers to the success of the campaign by contributing ideas and suggestions
PHI has contributed its expertise to the campaign, participating in developing a national webinar on staffing stability and offering a workshop on adult learner-centered training at the 2008 Learning Exchange (to be offered as a webinar in 2009).
On the local level, PHI state directors in Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, and Michigan participate in their local LANES.
