PHI President Steven Dawson’s letter to the editor highlighting home care workers’ low wages and lack of health coverage was published in today’s New York Times.
Dawson calls on President Obama to immediately take the necessary steps to ensure that home care aides are covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act, and also to help the home care industry increase pay and benefits for home care workers.
The letter was written in response to the Times editorial “Lilly and Evelyn,” published on January 29.

Great work! If only this could help the CA legislature inhale some of this common sense, get off their political bandwagons, and stop messing around with the nearly a million homecare providers and consumers in CA’s IHSS program.
