Building Person-Centered Relationships: The Skills Behind the Philosophy, August 12, full day intensive
This conference intensive is a skill-building session. Participants will deepen and practice a combination of communication skills that foster successful relationships in all parts of your community. These relational skills support successful team participation, genuine understanding of resident communication, and improved working relationships between departments and shifts.

Coalition of Geriatric Nursing Organizations Meeting, A Follow-up, August 13, 1:30 pm
Last November more than thirty experts attended a two day meeting to find common ground and advance the science of culture change and of nursing. This session will provide an understanding of the opportunities, barriers, and synergy that grew out of the in-depth discussion of scenarios discussed at the meeting regarding dining and medication administration in culture change environments.

Balancing Support and Accountability, August 13, 3:30 to 5 pm
Leaders striving to build person-centered approaches with employees often question how to effectively and supportively hold the staff accountable. Given the importance of compliance, quality and positive outcomes, how can leadership empower employees and ensure accountability at the same time? This workshop covers the 10 steps that empower employees to take responsibility for their performance, which in turn will improve all aspects of care and relationships.

The Gerontological Nurse Expert and Nursing Home Culture Change—Part 2, August 14, 3:30 pm
This session highlights how relationships and teamwork between nurses and direct care workers are crucial to providing quality clinical and person-directed or person centered care. It includes a discussion of the different ways nursing is implemented in the GREENHOUSE model and explores the core skills of the PHI Coaching Approach.
