CMS Introduces Training Materials for HCBS Waiver Program Case Managers

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) has introduced new training materials for case managers of Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waiver programs.

The training is intended to improve quality and compliance with federal assurances.

The materials consist of a 90-minute online tutorial for case managers that includes a narrative curriculum, case studies with video vignettes, knowledge checks, and reflective exercises to apply general knowledge to specific requirements of individual HCS waivers and states. CMS has also published a resource guide to support in-person trainings.

Funds from CMS’s Money Follows the Person grant was used to create the training materials.
